Common types of Sterilization Equipments in Use

Sterilization equipments play a very important role in medical science. Since a myriad of equipments, from the most common needle injections to the most sophisticated ones, are used in the private clinics and hospitals for delivering medical services to the patients, there is a need to sterilize these so that these can be used again in a germ-free environment. Since these medical equipments are made of different materials, these have to be sterilized in different ways and using the most appropriate equipment.

While there are a number of sterilization equipments used for varied purposes, some of the most common ones can be seen in private clinics and nursing homes. The most common one that you would have noticed is the syringe destroyer which is often present at the diagnostic labs and is used immediately after taking the blood samples. At the dentist clinic, you would have seen the equipments being heated in hot water in a small electric container before being used. This is another common type of sterilizing equipment. A Bowl sterilizer is another one that is used in the nursing homes and hospitals. Autoclave pressure equipment and some other more sophisticated equipments are used in hospitals for disinfecting the instruments, clothing or other accessories used by the patients.
These equipments are generally based on different types of methods of sterilization. It could be by application of heat directly to instruments, or to the water and putting the equipment in it. It could even be by the application of steam. There might also be a need to sterilize the equipments with the use of chemicals, or even to destroy these altogether. Even the destroyers are either manual or electric/pneumatic. Wherever there is a need to ensure that the equipment is destroyed completely, sophisticated crushing equipments are used. It is also a common practice to disinfect the air from germs and fumigators are used for this purpose. These are also a type of sterilization equipments.
So, depending on the use of medical equipments, the materials from which these are made and whether these have to be reused or not, proper sterilization equipments are used.
